Like a lot of people, my life and work were turned upside down when the COVID pandemic hit. The industry I was working in essentially disappeared overnight, and for nearly two years the work I relied on simply wasn’t there. I had to figure out how to keep moving forward, so I went back to something I had done as a kid — mowing lawns for neighbors.

While mowing helped get me through that time, it wasn’t something I planned to do long term. And if I’m being honest, getting splattered by dog mess while mowing lawns made me realize pretty quickly that I needed to find something better.

One thing I started noticing while working in people’s yards was how often homeowners would ask if I cleaned roofs or gutters. At first, I always said no. But after hearing the same question over and over again, I realized there was a huge demand for roof cleaning, moss removal, and gutter cleaning here in the Pacific Northwest.

Eventually I decided to make the jump and focus on exterior cleaning full time. I invested in the proper equipment, learned safe roof cleaning and soft washing methods, and started helping homeowners deal with the moss, debris, and buildup that are so common in our wet climate.

Today, Northwest Roof Defense is something I take a lot of pride in. My name is attached to this business, and that means every job matters. When I work on someone’s home, I treat it with the same level of care and attention that I would expect on my own house.

What started as a way to adapt during a difficult time has grown into a business focused on helping homeowners protect their roofs and homes through professional moss removal, roof cleaning, house washing, and gutter cleaning services throughout Olympia, Shelton, Tacoma, and surrounding Washington communities.
